Exciting times this week at BVI. We are in our Workshop 2 9:00-5:00. Our guest instructors this week are Lorraine Graves on Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00-10:30 Ballet Technique and Elbert Watson same time on Wednesday and Friday. Intermediate students are welcome to drop-in to these classes and stay for the pointe class as well. $35 for both classes. Janina and I are enjoying seeing are returning pre-professional students looking stronger and gorgeous! We have quite a few Workshop students this week who are gaining knowledge in ballet technique, modern, choreography and acting. Lots of blisters I have seen on their poor toes! This is unfortunately a part of dancing on pointe throughout the day. Feet swell dancing on them also all day so the pointe shoes will become tight! Put a little water on them to stretch the satin and canvas. Neosporin helps with blisters, toe tape and band aids. Think how strong you all are getting:) Janina and I are also enjoying choreographing on you all!
Intensive workshop begins next week with guest instructors Lorraine Graves and Roni Mahler. Roni Mahler is a dear friend of mine from my professional career with Cleveland/San Jose Ballet. She was our Ballet Mistress. Make sure to read her biography in the lobby. Roni has been coming every summer to teach for BVI!
Fall registration is flying in! So many new students as well as our wonderful returning students. Don’t forget to ask for your free BVI t-shirt once you register.
Ballet Virginia International’s Nutcracker auditions are Saturday, September 21st.
First week of fall classes begin Tuesday, September 3rd after Labor Day.
I am also very excited to begin working on SERBA choreography for our performing company members.
